How Mool Nakshatra Shanti Puja is Conducted in Bangalore Homes

In North Indian households, the birth of a child under Mool Nakshatra (ruled by Ketu and presiding deity Nirriti) calls for a special welcoming and pacification ceremony known as Mool Nakshatra Shanti or 'Sattaisa Puja' (performed on the 27th day when the baby's birth nakshatra repeats, or on an auspicious future date).

Traditionally, the father does not view the newborn's face directly until the Mool Shanti and Chhaya Darshan (seeing the baby's reflection in a bowl of melted pure cow ghee or mustard oil) are completed during the puja. In a busy city like Bangalore, parents and grandparents often worry about how to source traditional requirements like water from 27 wells/sources, leaves from 27 sacred trees (Saptavimshati Patra), soil from 7 places (Saptamritika), and a pot with 27 or 108 pores (Sahasradhara Kalash).

Pt. Rahul Shastri Ji takes that entire burden off the new parents' shoulders—bringing the pre-arranged 27 sacred herbs/leaves, Saptamritika, Pancharatna, and Sahasradhara Kalash so your family can celebrate the baby's arrival peacefully at home.

Shubh Muhurat & Auspicious Timings

Ideally performed on the 27th day after the child's birth when the exact birth Nakshatra recurs. If missed in infancy due to hospital stay or travel, it can be performed on any subsequent month/year when that same Nakshatra falls on an auspicious Tithi.
