Complete Ceremony Guide

How Navratri & Durga Saptashati Puja is Conducted in Bangalore Homes

In North Indian tradition, Navratri begins on Pratipada with sacred Ghat Sthapana (Kalash Sthapana), sowing barley seeds (Jau / Khetri), lighting the Akhand Jyoti, and invoking the nine forms of Maa Durga (Shailputri, Brahmacharini, Chandraghanta, Kushmanda, Skandamata, Katyayani, Kalaratri, Mahagauri, and Siddhidatri).

Pt. Rahul Shastri Ji is deeply experienced in the classical Kashi recitation of the Markandeya Purana's Shri Durga Saptashati—including Kavach, Argala, Keelak, Ratri Suktam, all 13 Chapters (Pratham, Madhyam, and Uttam Charitra), Devi Suktam, and Rahasya Trayam. Depending on your family's schedule, you can book Pandit Ji for Day-1 Kalash Sthapana, daily Saptashati Path, or a consolidated Ashtami/Navami Durga Saptashati Path with Havan and Kanya Pujan.

During the Ashtami or Navami Havan, 700 (or 108 Navarna Mantra) Ahutis of black sesame, barley, pure cow ghee, honey, guggul, and kheer are offered to the sacred fire, culminating in the joyful Maha Aarti ('Jai Ambe Gauri') and Kanya Pujan.

Shubh Muhurat & Auspicious Timings

Chaitra Navratri (March/April), Sharadiya Navratri (September/October), Gupt Navratri, Durga Ashtami, Maha Navami, and Fridays (Shukravar) are the prime occasions for Durga Saptashati Path and Havan.
